Robotics Lab at CO117/Project Lab Co116
THREE IMPORTANT THINGS we have...
1. PASSION
4 IMPLEMENTING INTELLIGENT UNMANNED SYSTEM and ROBOTICS INCLUDING MARINE, UNDERWATER, SUBMERSIBLE ROBOTS
2. TRUST & RESPECT
WE ARE NOT JUST WORKING TOGETHER FOR SUCH UMANNED SYSTEMS BUT ALSO WE ARE BUILDING TRUST WITH EACH OTHER TOWARDS GOALS WHILE RESPECTING TEAMMATES
3. GOALS
WE'D LOVE TO CHALLENGE OR BREAK THROUGH CURRENT LIMITS OR DIFFICULTIES OF SUCH TECHNOLOGIES WHILE LEARNING ON HANDS-ON, CUTTING-EDGE, AND STATE-OF-THE-ART TECH
A collection of robots we've created with passion and hope
OUR WORK
OTUS is a team name of Oregon Tech (OIT) Students Underwater Robotics Competition Team for RoboSub 2016 and stands for Oregon Tech Unmanned Systems in the AUVSI Club, which was founded in 2015. The teammates pursue to challenge the Competition as a testbed to get real-world experiences as well as obtaining educational goals while having fun. We can experience innovative methods/approaches to accomplish the given daunting tasks which require multiple engineering skills and techniques, collaboration, communication and responsibility, etc. We believe that these would be very important assets in the field (society) wherein we will participate. Also OTUS is a genus of Owls and Oregon Tech has a sports mascot Hustlin's Owls.

(1) Initial Stage (2015-16): Since we found the AUVSI Club, we have decided to integrate our strengths towards "The Competition." The Team consists of the club members, senior project students, and a bit more; over 20 students from College of Engineering including ME/MET/MFG, Computer/Software/ Embedded (CST), EE/REE students and a few college of HAS students have joined the team, which is divided into a couple of sub-teams (Design, Sensor, SW) to work for details while embarking on fundraising. The new club was registered in fall 2015 since the school started, we officially created "RoboSub" Team and have also launched a senior project (year-round) ME team in Mechanical and Manufacturing Dept. A snr project group from EEREE Dept has joined later for (POSSIBLE) application of their skills after the OUTS team with the advisor has invited snr/jnr project students in each Dept project meeting in Oct. The students who really contributed to the competition for design and fabrication of the vehicle are a few MMET senior students and the club members who are motivated, enthusiastic to tackle challenges towards RoboSub and we believe that those guys will innovate marine science or technologies and further more! ASOIT (Student Affairs Gov. at OIT) announced October, 2015 that we, AUVSI Club (a society at OIT), has awarded the 2nd place of “the most interactive club” with a small cash at the Super Sign-up event, held in the fall term.

(2) 2016-17: A new team was born in the end of Sep. 2016 and six small groups were consisted (see top-left; club officers were elected and they are great leaders). These teams are great and each of them are motivated, enthusiastic, and confident. One group of Boeing company, especially under the manager Steve I. Martin joined to work together with us as of 10/28 and is excited about what we are doing and to being each of you. Absolutely, we welcome you!

* Future Plan: While having experiences throughout the student robotics competition, next fiscal year we will strengthen our capability and try to extend our capability to UAS Competition as well as MATE or SeaPerch program if possible. Also will do serve outreach, mentoring or involving with local science and tech events, by extending our activity/service to our neighbors so that we can help local students in regional areas especially, in Southern Oregon. We are also planning on joining regional government body, companies, AUVSI Chapter soon to build network and collaboration among governmental agencies, industry, nonprofit societies, and academia.

Cheers,
Go OTUS!
Go Oregon TECH!!
